The detail in Sandy’s facial expression and eyes is juxtaposed with soft, swirling pink behind here. One is reminded of the sweet smell of flowers as we gaze into her pleased face, and we feel ourselves smiling back at her.

Sandy was found in absolutely deplorable conditions and was on the brink of death. When she was found, she was unable to stand on her own. She was suffering from meningeal worms- a parasite that attacks the brain and causes neurological problems.

Thankfully, the parasite was caught early enough that with veterinary treatment and round-the-clock care, she has recovered well, but will have lifetime lasting impacts. 

Sandy quickly made friends with some of her new family members, including Sunita.

Now, Sandy spends her days lounging in the sun and playing with her friends. She loves to wander around her pasture and always loves to see new visitors, although she is still a little shy towards new people.

Her deep, soulful eyes are full of love and tell the story of a real survivor.
